Thanksgiving Meets Christmas

My wishes for a very Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends and a perfectly wonderful day to my non-US friends!

Today I'm sharing 3 cards. The first two are based on the color challenge at Fab Friday.  These are lovely colors for a Thanksgiving card.  My first attempt was using a technique I learned many moons ago and I have seen it come around again recently as Joseph's coat technique.  I added an embossed panel that reminds me a bit of a blanket, a die cut sentiment and a few borders.

While the first card was pleasant, I didn't get the contrast I wanted so I took another go.  I chose to use a lot of white and add punches of the featured colors.  I started with a Blackberry Bliss card base in which I strategically placed squares of Cajun Craze and Hello Honey.   I die cut the squares with rounded corners from the main panel in which I stamped the sentiment.  This panel was mounted to the base with dimensionals.  The leaf was stamped in the 3 challenge colors, fussy cut and placed on the corresponding colored square.

My 3rd card was inspired by the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  This week's challenge is precious metals.  I thought why not go big.  I embossed a red metal sheet with a terrific 2 sided embossing folder by Spellbinders.  The design leave little room for embellishment, perfect for a CAS challenge.  I added a strip of silver glimmer paper to the top and bottom of the card to tie in with the sentiment which was also die cut from silver glimmer paper.  A silver rhinestone dots the "I".

Happy Stamping,
Dana

  2. I'm having a hard time choosing, too! I'm a die-hard fussy cut fan, lol. I think, though, I'm totally smitten with your first card - I love the blended look of your background leaves - plenty of pop for me! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

  3. Three beauties Dana! I agree - the second card does have more contrast but the first card is stunner in the tone-on-tone category! I really love the muted, fall colors!

Second card - definitely a bit more ka-pow with the white base. Of course, I love this one too...because of the white space!

Third card - 'go big or go home' paid off here big time! The embossed, shimmery background is stunning! Keeping it simple with a single word white sentiment is PERFECTO-MENDO!
