Since the air is beginning to get a little crisp, I was drawn to the challenge at Uniko Studio which is to create an Autumn/Fall card with an optional twist of Thanks. I started by sponging some white card stock. I wasn't able to capture the subtle color changes in the photos, but they are quite lovely IRL. I cut out the leaves with Tim Holtz's Tattered Leaves die. I dry embossed one and crushed the other to get some dimension. The leaves were too large for the original layout I had in mind so I explored other leaf images and nothing seemed quite right. So I fussed around with the leaves until I had a layout I liked. I dry embossed a hounds tooth pattern on the main panel, it reminded me a bit of a warm wool blanket. I rounded out the card with a sentiment flag, a yellow border and a few of wraps of twine with a bow.
Happy Stamping,
Dana
A lovely autumn card. I really like the embossing folder you've used. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb! I love this embossing folder, but don't often remember to use it.
DeleteSo..."one of the 5 celebrants"...when is your birthday? I have a wee list of some bloggie pal b-day dates and I'd love to add you to the list (only if you are okay with that). You can e-mail me at ggreener@mymts.net Please don't feel obligated....I'd totally understand.
ReplyDeleteBTW...what type of fish were you preparing? Walleye (or Pickeral as we call them in Canada)? MY DH is avid fisherman and would live outdoors if he could! Our son is exactly like DH...they love to fish & hunt!
Sorry, got side tracked...AWESOME card! The texture on the leaves and background panel is divine! Would love to be able to reach into my computer monitor and actually touch it! The bow ROCKS!!!
Geri, I'll send you a note from my home email tonight, thanks for including me on the bday list :). We had pan fish this time, crappies and bass but we do catch walleye too. Glen is also an avid fisherman and hunter, guess it's in the "up north" blood.
DeleteThanks for the lovely feedback on the card. It really does have a lot of texture and the colors are so rich IRL, not always easy to capture true color and texture in a photo.
What a gorgeous autumnal card, Dana ... love how you've created such a warm cosy feel with those rich colours and all the yummy texture! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita! I wish the true colors were represented better in the photo as they are so rich in real life. Glad you like it :)
DeleteDAna!!! I love your card... and I love a fish fry! In fact I fry a pretty mean blue-gill, if I do say so myself! Your die-cut leaves are spectacular and perfectly tinted. You already know I'm going crazy for that e.f., right - details please?
ReplyDelete=] Michele
Blue gill is another favorite for a fish fry around here too Michele. Thank you for your complimentary comments! This embossing folder is from Lifestyle Crafts and came as a pair with a lovely diamond pattern and this great herringbone. It is called Goosebumps. Thanks for stopping in!
DeleteSo delicate and pretty, love this!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kirsty. I'm so glad you stopped by!
