JOY!

I really like the colors in this weeks The Challenge and am squeezing in an entry just under the wire.  I particularly like that silver is included in the mix as I wouldn't naturally pair that with kraft but it is stunning.  Take a peek at the design team and challenge participants submissions and you'll see what I mean - stunning!

I wanted to include a strip of a diagonal striped paper along the left in red and silver.  I created this one by using a VERY old Stampin' Up stamp set called Perfect Plaids, I would guess that I purchased this in the mid to late 90's.  I used Cherry Cobbler and silver embossing for the stripes.  The Joy was embossed in Cherry Cobbler on white, layered on silver glimmer paper and finally a scrap of Cherry Cobbler CS.  The main panel is Crumb Cake and is dry embossed for a little interest.  A Cherry Cobbler band of ribbon and a bow were added.  I used a silver brad to secure the bow as I wanted a third silver element for balance.

Happy Stamping!

  1. The colours on your card work really well together. I like the way you've used the silver brad on the bow. Barbxx

    1. Thank you Barb! I can't take credit for either. The challenge provided the colors and I found the brad idea on the internet a few years ago. But so glad you like it!

  2. You embossed the stripes? AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME. Was sure it was some sa-weet DP!

You nailed the 'silver' part of the challenge...which to me, was literally a challenge because this is such an out-of-the-ordinary combo! Your embossed images are once again, flawless!!! ADORE...no make that swooning....over your PERFECTLY tied bow! My bows always look like something the cats chewed on, hence the total absence of same on my cards! Thanks for joining in this week's challenge :)

    1. Ha, ha, ha, the cats need a little string (or ribbon) to play with! Thank you so much for your very sweet compliments Geri!
